I started the Red Envelopes for Life

The first red envelopes sent to the President.

The first red envelopes sent to the President.

It has been an interesting week.

Three weeks ago I was doing my usual routine of prayer, Bible study, and quietly listening to God. Usually I begin the day with “Lord, what’s on your agenda today?”

That day, my mind wandered a little, and I imagined hundreds of red envelopes in the mail room of the White House. On the back, a simple message stating that each envelope represented an innocent life lost. I took that idea, and sent it in an email to my 120 ministry supporters. They in turn, sent it to their friends.

In the past few days that simple act of obedience to what I thought God was telling me to do has been described as “a phenomenon,” and an “act like the Boston Tea Party.” There are now three designated websites, countless blogs, and two Facebook groups based on my idea. From the sketchy information I have found, I am estimating at least 100,000 have been sent so far.

Who says one person can’t make a difference?

I am humbled, and amazed by what has happened. I am staying with friends, and they have said “this really is AWESOME.”

There have been some funny things, too. Like all of the emails from people asking me “why do you call yourself ‘Christ’?” There have been a few folks who have made it like they started the idea, telling others when they should send the letters. And my favorite, the people who have changed the email, made me a “she” and their friend.

I am really grateful to the new friends that I have made in this too, especially Edie and Brad, who “get it.” This is not about politics, it’s about changing one man’s heart. And if that one man can CHANGE, then maybe others can too, and maybe there still is HOPE.

Antonin Scalia once said that he wanted to end abortion, but he could not do it alone. “Where is the moral outrage?” he asked.

Finally, here it is.

I am promoting this campaign heavily on FB broadcasts! Lets be in prayer for Gods divine intervention to the horrible sin!

  • For Life says:

Amazing idea,,,,,I hope the president takes note. I will send this to my friends. We should pray, too and not give up hope. Maybe someone will stumble across this message and make their own decision for life…….Thanks!

  • admin says:

Yes, please pray. I suggest this prayer:
Jesus, I plead your blood over my sin and the sin of my nation. God end abortion and send revival to America.

  • Jeanne says:

Would it make sense for us all to mail them on the same day so that they will see an influx of red mail and take notice?

  • admin says:

Yes, please send them on March 31, the Red Envelope Day started by my friend Brian Potter.

  • Karen Emerick says:

Our Church in New Boston, Michigan will be sending 500 red envelopes this week. This weekend the ushers are passing them out to all the good people! Good Job! God BLess the red envelope campaign!

  • admin says:

    Wow! Thanks so much!

  • I am thankful that you have done what God has asked of you.

I am very concerned about the nomination of Gov. Kathleen Sebelius as Health and Human Services Secretary.

It is my understanding that Sebelius supports late-term abortion, and as Governor of Kansas, has vetoed legislation that would put modest restricts into law.

This position will control a $700 billion budget and, according to the New York Times, will “have considerable influence over government policy on abortion.”

I believe your red envelope campaign could help stop her confirmation if it is expanded. Perhaps red envelopes should start going out with your original message and a message that we oppose her nomination/confirmation.

These could be sent to the Senate.

I contacted Senate Majority Leader Reed’s office to find out the date that the Senate might take up Gov. Kathleen Sebelius’ confirmation.

They do not have a date scheduled and have no idea when that might be. They thought it would be before the end of March but perhaps not.

Maybe God is at work pulling the two together :)
HE is AWESOME!HE is in CONTROL!

Saw this campaign on Focus on the Family and promptly mailed it to all my friends. Later in the day I received the latest copy of “Womans Day” magazine. Page 34 has a quote, “About 90% of those whose fetuses test positive for Down (Syndrome) already choose to abort”. How do I explain to my happy, healthy 21 year old daughter, who has Down Syndrome, that her life is considered worthless by a large percentage of society and more so by our current government administration? It made me physically ill to realize that animals are put on the endangered species list but babies? Well, they’re expendable if they’re inconvenient.

  • Bob and Lenore Kendell says:

We are part of the Forty Days for Life prayer effort in front of an abortuary located in Southfield, Michigan run by Dr. Hodari. He has killed thousands of babies and is determined to continue dispite violating the law.
Sevarl baby body parts (twenty-three in all) were rescued from the garbage container behind his abortuary. These poor babies were given a burial in a Catholic church. All in one small coffin. It is sad beyond belief, and now we have a “leader” who wants more access to abortions. WE NEED TO CHANGE Pres. OBAMA’S HEART and so we pray that the RED ENVELOPE campaign works. GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR WORK.

  • Michelle says:

I had 2 abortions in my late teens and early 20’s. I was never told that almost 2 decades later those decisions to make “everything better” would still haunt me. I’ve turned my sin over to Christ and have been forgiven. He in turn laid it on my heart to educate those girls and women in the same position I found myself in. To show them all of their options, not just the one that seems the easiest. I personally just purchased 500 envelopes and stamps and will pass them out to my fellow volunteers and church members. I truly hope it makes President Obama stop and think for just a second about the millions of lives being lost every year.

  • I would love to subscribe to your site, and am having trouble figuring out how to do so?? I would also like to receive more information about the red envelope project and how to participate, as well as be able to forward any and all info to others who I am sure would love to participate.

Thank you for starting this project, may God bless it and you….

  • S Hayes says:

Check out this video by Coral Ridge Ministries. According http://www.redenvelopeproject.org there has been more than 700,000 pledges to mail out the envelopes. This thing is HUGE!!!

Keep up the good work and keep getting the word out!

    Blessings,

  • Pegeen Fernandez says:

President Obama’s heart will probably not be changed, but maybe this movement will make our hearts stronger. Let us not forget our Constitution; the Pursuit of Life…

  • D Campbell says:

I am privileged to have a small part. I am printing 170 envelopes and making them available at my church for folks to take and mail on Tuesday.

  • saintalexis says:

My school has just sent over 400 enveloped to Obama!

  • M. B. Howell says:

My parish in upstate New York hopefully, if everyone mailed their envelope will be an addtional 180 envelopes. I emailed 12 of my friends and I know 2 who were going to approach their priests to spread it through their churches. I spoke to a man visiting our parish from Louisiana and he said his parish mailed out about 4,000. Blessings to all and don’t forget to pray for conversion of heart.

  • R Mcintyre says:

The Knights of Columbus at our parish will mail 500 envelopes this week. They were filled out by members of St Francis parish at mass on Palm Sunday.

  • K Doherty says:

Where can we find the White House reaction to this campaign? I worked all weekend at our parish to get people to mail what envelopes we could find in a short time, even red flyers. Curious to know the reactions.

I think it’s time for another Red Envelope campaign. The House and Senate are expected to vote after Labor Day on Health Bills that will greatly expand and fund Abortion. How wonderful would it be to bombard the House and Senate with Red Envelopes the week before their vote so they can hear from the silent majority and visually see what their votes could potentially cause!

You can visit the below to get the mailing addresses of your representatives:

http://www.senate.gov/general/contact_information/senators_cfm.cfm – Senators – put in your state

http://clerk.house.gov/member_info/ – House Representatives – put in your state

We can write on the back:

This envelope represents one child who will die in abortion. It is empty because that life will not give anything to this world.
    Abortion is NOT Health Care.
Your Vote Counts! Please Vote Against this Legislation!
